HARKER HEIGHTS - Harker Heights Planning and Development Director Tommy Garcia resigned Thursday from his position with the city, City Manager Steve Carpenter said.

Carpenter said the resignation was "effective immediately," and as of Friday, Garcia was no longer employed by the city.

On Friday, Garcia's name was no longer listed as department head on the city's website.

Carpenter said the city plans to start advertising for the position.

"I'm relooking at the job description," he said. "I may change it around a bit."

Garcia had been employed as the planning and development director since December 2009. Carpenter said there was "some indication" that Garcia might leave, but could not elaborate further.
