Lampasas city voters overwhelmingly passed a ballot issue that will put a freeze on property taxes for residents 65 and older.

The measure passed 302 to 30 during Saturday’s election.

The new law, set to kick in Jan. 1, will allow Lampasas residents age 65 or older to not pay city property taxes if they live in the home and qualify for a homestead exemption.
