Retired schoolteacher Greg L. Smith was sworn in to the Lampasas City Council’s Place 4 seat Monday after the council unanimously approved his appointment June 5.

The previous seat holder, Misti Talbert, was elected mayor May 6.

Nine people, including Smith, originally applied for appointment to the vacant seat. They include:

Zachary Taylor, continuous improvement manager for Ajinomoto Windsor

Cathy Kuehne, Lampasas High School teacher

Regina Bertrand, office manager at Austin Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Ross Oliver, manager at LP Touring

Carrie Seaver, juvenile probation officer

Meghan McCatherine, residential child care inspector

Kevin Veazey, pastor

Clayton H. Tucker, teacher

McCatherine and Veazey pulled their names from consideration because they were not able to participate in the interview process for the seat.
