Post IDs soldier who died Sept. 10

FORT HOOD — Officials have released the name of a soldier who died Sept. 10 from injuries suffered from an apparent gunshot wound in Copperas Cove. He was pronounced dead at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

Chief Warrant Officer-2 Jeremy Fenison, 31, whose home of record is Las Vegas, Nev., entered active-duty service in August 1999. He was commissioned in July 2008 as an engineer equipment maintenance warrant officer. He arrived at Fort Hood on Sept. 6 and was assigned to 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.

Fenison deployed to Afghanistan from July 2011 to July 2012.

Fenison’s awards and decorations include a Bronze Star Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal and Driver and Mechanic Badge.
