A mishap in downtown Temple has caused a power outage that is likely to last hours.

A truck and trailer backed into a utility pole near the site of the demolition of Temple's former municipal court.

Oncor technicians are on the scene and expect power to be restored to the area around 5:30 p.m., according to Temple city spokesman Thomas Pechal.

In the meantime, traffic lights at intersections along Third Street at Adams Avenue and Central Avenue are not operating. Pechal urged drivers to exercise caution when traveling through that area.
