The city is offering residents a chance to Killeen Up! with free curbside pickup of bulky trash items this month.

On special Saturday collection days, residents may place items such as furniture, appliances, tires, boxes and brush at the curb for the city to collect free of charge.

Items should be placed curbside between 6 p.m. the Friday before and 7 a.m. the Saturday of collection.

If your regular collection day is Thursday, your special collection day is Saturday.

If your regular collection day is Friday, your special collection day is Oct. 27.

Household hazardous waste items such as pesticides, paint, gasoline, motor oil, chemicals, and batteries will not be collected.

On Oct. 27, First National Bank and the Killeen Area Better Business Bureau are hosting a free Shred Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2201 E. Trimmier Road. Participants may bring old receipts, tax forms and other potentially sensitive documents to be shredded and recycled at no charge. Unwanted computers and electronics also will be accepted. All hard drives will be destroyed on-site.
