COPPERAS COVE — The City Council on Tuesday approved the development of about 15 acres to complete the second phase of Skyline Flats neighborhood.

Located adjacent to Big Divide Road, the Skyline Flats neighborhood division is being developed in three phases, said Chris Stewart, with Stewart Planning LLC, the city’s planner. Phase 2 of the subdivision also was planned in three sections, and this section would complete the second phase with portions of Phase 3 remaining.

“We are looking at 59 lots, and that will make up the rest of Phase 2,” Stewart said. “It also will continue to extend Settlement Road (through the neighborhood).”

Five council members were present at the meeting: Councilwoman Cheryl Meredith and Councilmen Mark Peterson, Danny Palmer and Kenn Smith and Mayor John Hull. The group did not ask any questions about the development.

The council approved the other sections of Skyline Flats Phase 2 in January 2011 and October 2012.

The October plans included park improvements to serve the neighborhood.

Also approved at the meeting was a Copperas Cove Public Library strategic plan, which provides a guideline for library activities, priorities, staffing and budgeting.
