GATESVILLE — The Central Texas regional director for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, spoke with Coryell County officials Monday.

Lela Pittenger of Cruz’s Austin office met with about a dozen people for about 30 minutes during a recess of the county commissioners’ court budget workshop.

“We are looking for non-interference from government,” said Polo Enriquez, executive director of the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation.

Enriquez said it is difficult enough to try to attract businesses without the red tape of grant applications and land-use restrictions.

Improving military-civilian relations is crucial for economic development, said Dick Van Dyke, president of the Coryell County Economic Development Board. Cruz is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Pittenger said, and is focused on jobs for military dependents.

What idoicy.

The council itself is a creation of gubment.

The members are appointed by the city council of Copperas Cove.

It is in effect a dept. of the gubment of Copperas Cove

So it is with extreme irony that a member of the council asks for non-interference from gubment.

I have a suggestion if he is sincere, disband the council.

In doing so you will lesson the role of gubment in a major way in Copperas Cove.
