The sister of Detective Charles "Chuck" Dinwiddie gave a public statement to members of the press this afternoon, revealing more details about the life and personality of the fallen officer.

Ellen Dinwiddie Smith described her brother, the youngest of six siblings, as a family man who was always ready to help his friends and loved ones.

"He created a bond between all of us," said Smith, who traveled to Killeen from Minnosota in the wake of her brother's death. "He was the glue."

Dinwiddie was fatally wounded while he and members of the Killeen Police Department's SWAT team attempted to serve a narcotic search warrant May 9. Dinwiddie, 47, died of his wounds May 11.

Visitation is scheduled for tomorrow evening, and a funeral services will be held Saturday.
