FORT HOOD — Post officials on Tuesday released the name of soldier who was found unresponsive Thursday at his residence in Killeen.

Staff Sgt. Queston Lynn Newell, 35, of Killeen, entered active-duty service in August 1996 as a mechanized infantryman and served more recently as an air and missile defense crew member. He was assigned to Delta Company, Warrior Transition Brigade, Fort Hood, since March 2011.

Newell deployed to Iraq from March 2004 to March 2005 and from March 2009 to February 2010.

His awards and decorations include three Army Commendation Medals, eight Army Achievement Medals, four Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral three, Army Service Ribbon, four Overseas Service Ribbons, Army National Guard Recruiter Badge, Combat Action Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver Wheeled and Driver Tracked Vehicles.

Circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation.
