Children ranging in age from 5 to 12 took part in the Blooming Chefs Academy on Monday at the Harker Heights Activities Center.

Instructor Carly Ross shared her love of cooking while teaching about kitchen safety, kitchen utensils and their uses, and healthy eating.

Ross has taught the cooking classes, sponsored by the Harker Heights Parks and Recreation Department, for almost two years.

While baking, the kids also worked on reading, following directions and math skills.

“They are having fun and learning at the same time,” Ross said.
