A 25-year-old Killeen man has been identified as a suspect in the Sept. 22 death of a Fort Hood soldier.

Killeen police are looking for Carnel Davis, who is considered armed and dangerous, said Carroll Smith, the Killeen police department spokeswoman.

Davis is a black man, 5-feet-11 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds.

"His last known address was in the 500 block of West Green Avenue, where he has since been evicted," Smith said.

Davis was charged with murder Friday and is sought by police in connection with the death of Pfc. Glendon Nery, who, according to an autopsy report, died from multiple gunshot wounds and blunt force trauma to the head in his apartment at 105 W. Dean Ave., Smith said.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at the address around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 22. Upon arrival, police found a 31-year-old man with head injuries. The man was transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center on Fort Hood, where he was treated and released the following day, Smith said.

The man's relationship to the death of Nery has not been released to the public.

Shortly after the man with head injuries was found, Nery was found dead inside his apartment.

Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced Nery dead and ordered the autopsy at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

The case was screened by the Bell County District Attorney's Office and a complaint was issued Friday, charging Davis with murder, Smith said.

Judge Cooke signed a warrant for his arrest, and the Killeen Police Department needs public assistance in locating Davis.

Anyone with information about Davis should call the Killeen Police Department at (254) 501-8830 or Crime Stoppers at 526- TIPS.

"Do not attempt to apprehend this subject, as he is considered armed and dangerous," Smith said.
