An organized crime task force that draws agents from several law enforcement agencies in Bell County removed 397 grams of cocaine and 1,200 grams of crystal methamphetamines from the streets of Killeen in two busts in the past month.

The four people arrested in the busts are being held in Waco on federal drug charges, according to information released Tuesday by the Bell County Organized Crime Unit.

"In both of these cases, these are mid-level dealers," said Sgt. Jerry Dugger, the unit's

commander and a Harker Heights police officer. "These are not street dealers. ... These are significant players in the drug scene here."

On Feb. 5 in Killeen, agents with the unit arrested Max Schulz, 48, of Harker Heights, and Alfonso Morales, 24, of Dallas. The two were found in possession of more than 1,200 grams of crystal meth, an estimated $138,000 in street value, the release states. The arrests were the result of a larger investigation into methamphetamine trafficking in Bell County.

In a separate incident on Jan. 23, agents executed a search warrant at a Killeen home and found 397 grams of cocaine - with an estimated street value of $39,000 - as well as $5,000 in cash and a handgun. Cameran A. Flanagan, 29, of Killeen, and Latoya Shontei Warren, 33, of Killeen, were arrested.

Dugger said because of the long-term nature of the unit's investigation, more details were not available Tuesday.

The Bell County Organized Crime Unit was formed in 2010, evolving out of what was the Central Texas Narcotics Task Force.

The organized crime unit aims to conduct "proactive investigations" of organized crime. Agents are assigned to the unit from the Killeen Police Department, Temple Police Department, Bell County Sheriff's Office, Harker Heights Police Department, Belton Police Department, the Bell Count District Attorney's Office and the Copperas Cove Police Department.
