FORT HOOD — The body of a 14-year-old male student was discovered early this afternoon behind Fort Hood's Clarke Elementary School, officials announced.

The deceased was found by a teacher who immediately notified Fort Hood law enforcement shortly after noon Tuesday, according to the release.

The school was placed on lockdown as a matter of procedure while law enforcement conducted an initial response. Once it was determined there was no threat, the lockdown was lifted and the school returned to normal status.

The parents of the deceased boy reported him missing earlier in the day along with a weapon from the home. The death scene has been cordoned off and is being investigated by special agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command.  According to CID officials, there is no known threat to the public or to the students at the school.

Fort Hood officials said no further information will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
