A Temple man was fatally injured Saturday in Morgan's Point after an SUV that failed to yield on a left-hand turn collided head-on with the man, who was driving a motorcycle.

Alan McClure, 55, was headed west bound on Farm-to-Market 2483, approaching Lake Forest Drive in Morgan's Point, at 11:15 a.m.

A late model SUV driven by a Harker Heights resident was east bound on FM 2483 and was preparing to turn left onto Lake Forest Drive. The SUV turned left into the oncoming motorcycle, with the two vehicles hitting head on, according to a Morgan's Point Police Department news release. The driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a safety helmet.

McClure was transported to Scott and White Hospital in Temple, where he died at 12:30 p.m. from injuries sustained in the accident.

The SUV driver, whose name has not been released, will be charged with failure to yield right-of-way when turning left, according to the news release.

Two adults and one juvenile in the SUV sustained no injury.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, according to the release.

The case is under investigation by MPPD with assistance from the Temple Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit.
