A 36-year-old Temple man died after being shot Thursday morning. His death marked Temple's third homicide of the year, all since June.

Temple police found Vaughn Wattley, 36, suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1100 block of South Martin Luther King Drive at about 1:35 a.m. Wattley was transported to Scott & White Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 2:04 a.m,, a Temple police news release stated.

The homicide was the second for Temple police in a week.

Temple police found Robin Simek, 45, shot in the 1100 block of South Third Street at 10:45 p.m. Saturday. She was shot multiple times in the upper torso with a handgun, a news release stated. She died at Scott & White Hospital at 11:30 p.m.

The city's first 2009 homicide happened June 2. Temple police found the body of Jorge Antonio Garcia Gamero, 35, in the 5000 block of Charter Oak Drive.

Officers responded to a vehicle accident and a shots-fired call. Gamero was found wounded in a black Honda sedan 50 yards from the street. He died June 3 at Scott & White Hospital.
