The Lampasas Historical Commission received the 2011 Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission Monday.

Presented by Lampasas County Judge Wayne Boultinghouse, the award recognized the county's commission for working toward substantial preservation efforts that led to a greater understanding of state and local history while promoting stewardship of cultural and historic resources.

"County Historical Commissions have a passion for telling the real stories of Texas…" said Mark Wolfe, the state commission's executive director.
