U.S. 190 ramp closed today in Heights

The eastbound on-ramp for U.S. Highway 190 in front of Walmart in Harker Heights, and a portion of the auxiliary lane between the on-ramp and exit-ramp will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today while crews pour concrete between the pavement and guard rail.

In case of bad weather, work will be completed between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Street maintenance on Dimple in Killeen

City of Killeen crews will perform maintenance on Dimple Street, from Hallmark Avenue to Veterans Memorial Boulevard, weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday.

The work is scheduled to continue through Feb. 1, according to a news release.

Traffic will be routed around the work zone during this time. Motorists should exercise caution while in the area and plan alternate routes if possible. Crews will be repairing a section of curb, gutter and sidewalk, and replacing asphalt.

Dance for seniors Tuesday in Killeen

A senior dance, featuring Paul Wikoff playing country music, is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lions Club Park Senior Center.

Admission is $4 per person. Attendees are asked to bring a snack to share if possible. Adult guests of members are welcome.

The senior center is at 1700 E. Stan Schlueter Loop in Killeen.

Diabetes support group meets Feb. 5

Diabetes support group monthly meeting begins at 6 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Scott & White Urgent Care Center in Killeen.

Scott & White’s executive chef will host a cooking demonstration for diabetes and heart disease.

The public is invited to attend at 5702 E. Central Texas Expressway, Killeen, next to Rosewood.

Heights High choir boosters to meet

A Harker Heights High School Choir Booster Club meeting starts at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 in the high school choir room.

Choir performances will be finalized for The Knight Club.

Senior center plans activities this week

Free piano lessons are being offered at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Bob Gilmore Senior Center, 2205 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd., Killeen. Learn to read music and sing. Instructors are Dr. Daniel Kott of Killeen and Al Scott of Georgetown.

A six-week course covering portion awareness, meal planning, managing diabetes to foot health begins Thursday in the sewing room.

Instructor Earline Miller with Integrity Rehab and Home Health will be at the center from 10 to 11 a.m.

Topics also include proper nutrition, good carbohydrates, sugars, and why vegetables and fruits are needed daily.
