BELTON The deaths Wednesday of a husband and wife living near Moffat appeared to be a murder-suicide the third set of double deaths investigated by the Bell County Sheriffs Office in two weeks.

The bodies of Maria Gonzalez, 38, and Enrique Gonzalez, 47, were found Wednesday by family members who had to forcibly enter their home at 12556 State Highway 36, said Sheriff Dan Smith in a news release.

This was different ... different than what Ive seen in a murder-suicide during my 17 years in law enforcement and nine years as justice of the peace, said Judge Ted Duffield, who pronounced the couple dead.

Usually in a murder-suicide, one person has either shot or stabbed the other, Duffield said. In this case, a ligature was possibly used on one of the deceased. Yet, its still a sad situation.

Smith said his deputies responded to the address about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, regarding the discovery of the bodies.

Initial investigation, Smith said, revealed that the couples bodies were found in the front of their home by their son, who had to forcibly enter the residence after repeated attempts by him and other relatives. Once inside, the bodies were found in the front bedroom, Smith said.

Duffield ordered autopsies to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.

The Bell County Sheriffs Office Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate.

Authorities believe the other two cases were linked.

During the early morning hours of Nov. 26, sheriffs deputies were summoned to a dead-end street near an entrance to Fort Hood west of Killeen, where the bodies of Mohamed-Amine Rahmouni, 25, of Killeen, and Haitham Frank Zayed, 28, of Austin were found shot to death.

Around 9:30 p.m. Nov. 28, the bodies of Tiffany Loraine Dotson, 18, of Killeen and a female identified only as a 16-year-old white girl of Louisiana were found dead on Simmons Road east of Killeen between Nolanville and Belton.

Two suspects were arrested and charged in connection with the four murders.
