BELTON It can be seen from U.S. Highway 190 a large, imposing structure rising up out of a large, lonely field.

The large building is the new district courthouse, which is nearing completion.

County officials are scheduled to take possession of the new district courthouse in Bel-ton on May 15.

It will take a week to move in and then a week without court to get things settled, Commissioner John Fisher said Monday during the commissioners courts weekly meeting. Court will resume May 30.

The day the county takes possession of the building, a ribbon cutting and open house is scheduled an opportunity for Bell County residents to come out and see for themselves. The new building has been a long time in coming and has been a point of contention between candidates in the primary election, as has been the countys need for more jail space.

Commissioners also approved:

n the county auditor to advertise for bids for an ATM machine at the Temple Annex.

n the replat for River Ridge Ranch 1, a replat of lot 6A, a 1.396 acre subdivision off River Ranch Road.

n the plat for Ryan Addition, a 5.54 acre, 15-lot subdivision off Farm-to-Market 439 Spur.
