Area residents can see the five District

55 candidates at a forum today.

The government affairs committee of the Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce will host a candidate forum and lunch that will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Central Texas Homebuilders Association facility, located at 445 E. Central Texas Expressway in Harker Heights.

Republican candidates Martha Tyroch, Ralph Sheffield, Michael Pearce and John Alaniz will join Democratic hopeful Sam Murphey at the event.

The four GOP candidates, who will face off in the March 4 Republican primary, are expected to take part in a question-and-answer format discussion at their first forum, with each given specified time limits for answers.

Murphey said he will give an introduction and talk briefly about why he is running, but he will not participate in the question-and-answer portion of the forum.

The event is scheduled to last until 1:15 p.m. The public is invited.

For more information, contact the chamber staff at (254) 699-4999.
