Troopers with the Department of Public Safety are still investigating the hit-and-run accident that left one bicyclist dead and another seriously injured, a DPS spokeswoman said Thursday.

At this time, there is nothing to release, said Lisa Block of the DPS office in Austin.

The troopers have been looking for a witness who can describe the hit-and-run vehicle in the incident that occurred around 11 p.m. Jan. 27 on Chaparral Road south of Killeen.

Dwayne William Cook, 29, of Killeen was killed in the incident as he was riding his bicycle along with his companion, Sandy Noe, 34, of Harker Heights.

Noe, who was transported to Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple with a life-threatening head injury, has been discharged from the hospital, but it will be some time before she can do anything, said Cooks mother and stepfather, Linda and Jerry Barfknecht of Killeen.

The DPS needs the publics help in solving this crime.

Anyone with any information on this incident is requested to contact your local police department or the DPS office in Lampasas at (512) 556-6871.
