Election filing began Saturday for local elections, but because the date fell on a weekend, candidates didn't start filing until Monday.
The final day to file is March 12, two months before the May 12 election day.
Early voting begins April 30 and ends May 8. The first day to apply for ballot by mail is March 13, and the last day to apply for ballot by mail is May 4. The last day to register to vote is April 12.

Candidates who have filed for the Killeen City Council include: Claudia L. Brown, 66, retired principal running for the District 4 seat; Rico Corporal, 33, an employee of Communities in Schools running for the District 4 seat; and Juan Rivera, 56, a business owner running for the District 2 seat.
Candidates who have filed for the Harker Heights City Council include: John Reider, a real estate broker running for Place 1, which is currently held by Mike Miller; Mike Aycock, a contractor, who is currently in the Place 3 seat and is running again for that position; and Robert Robinson, retired, and Robert Jutras, a disabled veteran, both filed as candidates for Place 4, which is currently held by Pete Laessig.
No one had filed for any of the Killeen Independent School District board of trustees positions as of Monday afternoon.
