Grand jury indicts man on felony charges for threatening witness

A Killeen man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly trying to force a woman to drop an assault charge against him.

A Bell County grand jury indicted 30-year-old LaDanty Antwon Harris on a count of retaliation Sept. 22 and possession of cocaine, 1 to 4 grams, on June 27.

The affidavit states that Harris forced a vehicle carrying the victim to the side of the road. Harris allegedly grabbed the victim and told her they were going down to the police station so she could drop the assault charge she had filed.

The victim told police that she was afraid of what Harris would do if she did not comply, telling police that he named a relative of hers.

Harris was already in violation of a protective order by making contact with the victim.

Harris will be tried as a repeat offender, bumping up the charge to a second-degree felony; if convicted, the crime carries a punishment of 2 to 20 years in prison. The same punishment applies for the cocaine charge.

The grand jury issued 31 additional indictments to individuals on the following charges:

Kris Michael Lewis Turnbull, 18, of Nolanville; theft over $20,000, Oct. 22.

George McRae Hughes, 26, of Killeen; unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, May 5.

Freeman Lee Smalley Jr., 29, of Houston; possession of methamphetamine, less than 1 gram, Aug. 29.

Vardry Shurocco Aiken, 41, of Killeen; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Sept. 2.

Albert Taplin Jr., 32, of Temple; possession of cocaine, less than 1 gram, habitual offender, Sept. 17.

Dominick Deron Thomas, 25, of Belton; possession of marijuana, more than 4 ounces, Nov. 19.

Victor Ladell Holleman, 49, of Temple; possession of cocaine, less than 1 gram, Dec. 5, repeat offender.

Tawanna Chase, 28, of Temple; injury to a child with serious bodily injury, July 22.

Robert Oran Denton, 44, of Rogers; aggravated robbery, repeat offender, Oct. 18.

Michael S. White, 22, of Temple; robbery, Oct. 20.

DeWayne Garlett Freeman, 38, of Troy; forgery by passing, July 7.

Douglas Hamilton, 53, of Temple; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Oct. 21.

Karon Johnson, 20, of Dallas; aggravated robbery, Oct. 1.

Misty Lara Hernandez, 29, of Temple, and David Staggs, 63, of Temple; indecency with a child by contact, Aug. 17.

Jeniva Sherrell Burt, 20, of Killeen; possession of marijuana, more than 4 ounces, Aug. 8.

Archie Terrell Scaife, 30, of Killeen; possession of cocaine, with intent to deliver, 1 to 4 grams, inside a school zone, Oct. 30.

Lee Moreno, 57, of Temple; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Oct. 2.

Faith Sharita Ransom, 23, and Arthur Eugene Henry Jr., 24, of Killeen; two counts of endangering a child, July 24.

Tenayia Sheree Adair, 23, of Killeen; burglary of a habitation, May 4.

Kenneth Wayne Hopson, 50, of Killeen; burglary of a habitation, Oct. 17.

Almalik Aleem Wilson, 20, of Killeen; burglary of a habitation, Oct. 17, escape, Oct. 17.

Tiawan Shaun Gray, 28, of Killeen; criminal mischief, more than $1,500, Nov. 26.

Fabian Wayne Deville, 33, of Killeen; robbery, Oct. 8.

Mario Gadsen, 18, of Killeen; robbery, Nov. 20.

Benny Chavez, 26, of Killeen; theft, more than $1,500, Oct. 28.

Lydia Katherine Barnes, 20, of Fort Hood; driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, Oct. 26.

Raven Michael Mokuau, 25, of Killeen; reckless negligent endangerment of a child, May 29.
