The Harker Heights City Council will discuss updating its land use plan at a 3 p.m. meeting today.
The plan helps city staff and the City Council make decisions about how land in the city is used.
"It indicates the future land uses for all areas of the city that the City Council has deemed as promoting the public health and welfare," states the Harker Heights Comprehensive Plan. Also written in the land use plan are guidelines for how certain types of development such as various densities of residential developments, commercial developments, and manufacturing or industrial developments, should be used throughout the city.
