The Killeen City Council will discuss improvements at Lions Club Park, including a new family aquatics center, during its workshop and meeting Tuesday.

On the workshop agenda, the council is scheduled to talk about architecture and engineering services related to a new swimming pool with water park-like features.

In mid-February, the Community Services Committee selected Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc. as its top choice for the city staff to negotiate with first to design the new aquatic center. The committee favored that company because it has built water centers for municipalities similar to the scale Killeen wants.

The council will also have a public hearing during its meeting to amend the budget so $277,731 can be used for the new senior and recreation centers at Lions Club Park.

Also on the agenda is a resolution authorizing the purchase of furniture for the two new buildings scheduled to open May 3.

The council is also scheduled to discuss the city s participation in using a new logo and tagline developed by the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce. On Feb. 19, Chamber of Commerce CEO John Crutchfield and creative design committee members unveiled a new logo and tagline for branding and marketing the city. The new logo drew mixed reactions from the council.

The council is also expected to hear a presentation of the city s annual audit during the workshop.

The meeting also has a resolution to adopt the city s federal legislative policy and support a partnership with the Armed Services YMCA.

An ordinance on the council's agenda, if approved, would change when sidewalk ramps are installed in new subdivisions.

The workshop begins at 4 p.m. and the meeting at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 101 N. College St. The meetings are open to the public.
