A Belton man was indicted on a drug possession charge Wednesday after postal inspectors discovered 21 pounds of marijuana headed for his address.

A Bell County grand jury indicted Leonardo Briseno, 22 on a charge of possession of marijuana, more than 5 pounds, for a June 6 incident.

The arrest affidavit stated that a postal inspector delivered the box, addressed to Carlos Briseno, to the home. The box was unopened and proved to be enough for authorities to receive approval for a search warrant.

Investigators with the Central Texas Narcotics Task Force searched the home and discovered a box with 2 pounds of marijuana under one of the beds in addition to the large delivered package.

First Assistant District Attorney Murff Bledsoe said that federal prosecutors do have the option to take the case because the crime was committed through the postal system, but they did not exercise that option.

The grand jury issued 17 additional indictments Wednesday:
