A 12-year-old Morgan's Point girl missing since 4:30 p.m. Tuesday was found safe Wednesday afternoon.

Morgan's Point Police Chief Randy Dixon called off the search for Destiny R. Montalongo on Wednesday afternoon after the girl was found safe at her grandparents' home in Temple. Dixon said further details of her disappearance, including how she arrived at her grandparents' home, had not been determined Wednesday afternoon, but police were investigating.

Dixon had said earlier Wednesday there were unconfirmed reports that the child may have left home because of a family dispute.

A search began for Destiny on Tuesday afternoon when she did not return home from Lake Belton Middle School. The search intensified to areas near Belton Lake when items belonging to Destiny were found near the lake.

Police conducted a door-to-door search of the Morgan's Point area until 10 p.m., Dixon said.

The search was stopped at 10 p.m. Tuesday and was resumed Wednesday morning. Canine dogs were sent to areas near Belton Lake before Destiny was found.
