BELTON – A Bell County grand jury Wednesday indicted a 17-year-old Shoemaker High School student accused of pulling a fire alarm at the school in January.

Curtis Rakim Clinton, 17, of Fort Hood, was indicted on a charge of making a false alarm.

On Jan. 23, Killeen Independent School District police responded to a fire alarm at Shoemaker High School, according to the arrest affidavit. Officers reset the fire alarm and started to review tapes recorded by a nearby video camera.

The tapes revealed that a student pulled the alarm, then walked into a classroom, the affidavit stated. The classroom teacher said Clinton walked into the room shortly after the alarm sounded.

Police met with Clinton, who gave them a written statement admitting that he had pulled the alarm because he was threatened by other students, the affidavit stated. The officer who met with Clinton noticed that he was wearing the same clothing as the person in the videotape of the incident.
