An unidentified white female whose remains were found Sept. 5 on West Fort Hood died of "homicidal violence," according to a preliminary autopsy report released Tuesday by Bill Cooke, Bell County justice of the peace.

Evidence collected by Criminal Investigation Division officers assigned to Fort Hood led them to believe that the woman's death was a homicide, said Chris Grey, spokesman for the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command.

Investigators have no reason at this time to believe that the woman is a soldier, Grey said.

Authorities are not releasing any evidence or description of the woman.

Grey would not answer questions about the condition of the body, but reports from a Fort Hood spokeswoman on Thursday said investigators believe the woman had been dead about a week when her body was found by a soldier at about 11:45 a.m. in a lightly wooded area near Radar Hill Road.

Investigators are working closely with local, state and federal authorities on the case, and they are using the state's missing-persons database, Grey said.
