COPPERAS COVE — A Cove man remains in jail after he was arrested when police were tipped off that he was allegedly carrying more than a half-gram of methamphetamine.

On Thursday, Judge William Price arraigned Vincente Luzama Ada on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and set his bond at $25,000.

According to police reports, Ada was spotted by police standing in front of the Family Food Mart on Urbantke Lane. At 5:20 a.m., Ada allegedly told officers he was waiting for the store to open when he was asked if he had anything illegal in his possession.

Ada said no and consented to a body search. Police allege that a clear plastic bag containing methamphetamine fell from Ada’s jacket.

A digital scale weighed the bag and contents at 0.6 grams.
