TEMPLE — A section of State Highway 317 was closed for about two hours Monday morning after an 18-wheeler carrying gravel collided with a cement hauler at the highway’s intersection with Trailridge Drive, according to the Temple Police Department.

The cement hauler lost its cement load in the roadway after the drum came loose from the truck, requiring a cleanup of spilled cement.

The driver of the cement hauler was transported to Scott & White Hospital in Temple, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Temple Police Sgt. Pete Ramirez said.

The accident happened just after 8 a.m. in the 5400 block of South SH 317 and the 9300 block of Trailridge Drive. The initial report stated the driver of the 18-wheeler was going west on Trailridge Drive and didn’t yield the right of way to the cement hauler going north on SH 317.
