Copperas Cove temporarily closed sections of Avenue D as part of phase two of its Downtown Revitalization Project, according to a city news release.

The city closed both eastbound lanes of Avenue D between Main and Second streets, which will remain closed through late August.

The city launched its Downtown Revitalization Project in January. The project is divided into three phases, with the third phase closing Avenue D between Third Street and First Street.

A detour was established around the construction site.

Motorists traveling north or south on Main Street will not be permitted to turn east onto Avenue D, and drivers traveling east on Avenue D must either turn north or south on Main Street.
