TEMPLE — Interstate 35 main lane closures will affect Salado-area traffic on both Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

Southbound main lanes will be closed Wednesday, and northbound lanes will close Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. both nights, so crews can repair damaged pavement.

Jodi Wheatley, TxDOT spokeswoman, said some of the damage was caused by the pavement’s age.

On Wednesday, all southbound traffic will exit at Exit 285 (Farm-to-Market 2268) and get back on I-35 south of FM 2268 near Exit 283. The southbound frontage road will be for one-way southbound traffic only.

The crossing at Main Street will be closed to make traffic flow smoother, Wheatley said.

Thursday’s traffic will get off the interstate at Exit 283 (FM 2268/FM 2483) and get back on I-35 just north of Main Street. The crossing at Main Street will be closed.
