The Killeen Police Department responded to between 15 and 20 accidents since midnight.

Killeen PD Spokeswoman Carroll Smith said that number does not reflect the number of vehicles that skid off roadways.

There have been no serious injuries due to accidents, she said.

Smith said motorists are encouraged to stay off roadways unless its is absolutely necessary. She said all roadways are iced.

Hilary Shine, Killeen spokeswoman, said the city’s public works department worked through the night sanding roadways, and a second crew began re-sanding roadways this morning.

The W.S. Young bridge that passes between Rancier and Veteran’s Memorial Boulevard remains closed. Shine said it’s the only street closure in the city.

Harker Heights and Copperas Cove Police Department officials said there were several accidents in their cities. The departments wouldn't have numbers for accidents to which they have responded until later today.
