Killeen police are investigating a fatal crash on Fort Hood Street.

Officers received a 911 call at 7:12 p.m. Saturday after a vehicle hit a pedestrian in the 1100 block of South Fort Hood Street, according to a news release.

Witnesses told officers they saw a black man wearing dark clothing in the center turn lane get hit when a maroon Honda Accord, driven by a 64-year-old woman, traveling northbound attempted to turn left.

Michael Miguel Thomas, 45, of Killeen, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:43 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke. No autopsy was ordered.

The driver’s name was not released since no charges have been filed, said Killeen police spokeswoman Carroll Smith.
