An 18-year-old man is dead after the Yamaha motorcycle he was riding crashed into a minivan near downtown Killeen on Tuesday evening, police said.

Chase William Evans was operating a motorcycle traveling east on East Rancier Avenue when a Dodge minivan turned left in front of him at the intersection of Crocket Drive, said Carroll Smith, spokeswoman for the Killeen Police Department.

“He collided with the van,” she said.

Evans was pronounced dead at 7:38 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.

Police received a 911 call about the accident at 6:53 p.m.

Three people were traveling in the van.

One of them complained of a minor injury following the accident, and was treated and released, Smith said.

Police are still investigating to see if speed or other factors were involved.
