Temple police officer struck by car on I-35

A Temple police officer was stuck while conducting a routine traffic stop on Interstate 35 this morning.

The officer pulled over a vehicle just before 8:30 a.m. near Mile Marker 296 in Bell County when they were hit by another vehicle, according to information from the Texas Department of Transportation.

Traffic is backed up, and being rerouted to the access road. Alternate routes are: 6th Street exit in Belton, which leads to Highway 93 to Temple on the East side, and FM 317, which goes from U.S. Highway190 north with connections to Temple, according to TxDOT.
