As the freezing rain and precipitation begins to make its way into the area, the Temple Police Department reminds all motorists to take extra precautions while traveling.

Patrol units reported accumulations of ice on roadways and bridges throughout the city Saturday evening. This accumulation is a direct result of the freezing precipitation and consistent below freezing temperatures. Sanding trucks are currently working throughout the city to try and keep roads passable.

The Killeen area is under a freezing fog advisory until 9 a.m. Sunday and motorists are discouraged from traveling unless absolutely necessary.

In Austin, police shut down the upper decks of Interstate 35 in case of overnight icing. Travelers heading north and south will be able to use the lower lanes.
