The city of Killeen expects WS Young Drive from Illinois to Arkansas avenues to be closed through Tuesday for drainage system and roadway repairs, according to a Wednesday news release.

A sinkhole on WS Young Drive was discovered around noon Tuesday, the release said. The road was closed in the affected area to diagnose the cause, and city staff found erosion and failure of a drainage pipe.

Repairs began Tuesday, and require opening the road to replace the drainage pipe and rebuilding of the street section.

Motorists will be forced to use detours during the repair, and are cautioned to observe pedestrians, construction workers and signage, the release said.
