A wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after her vehicle jumped the curb on Clear Creek in Killeen near the airport, according to police reports.

“At about 7:58 a.m., police responded to 911 calls of a reckless driver,” Killeen Police Department spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said. “When officers arrived, they saw a light Nissan Versa traveling eastbound in the westbound lane.”

Miramontez said the car then hit the curb and wrecked. When officers approached the vehicle they found the driver injured. Miramontez said she was then taken to Darnall Army Medical Center on Fort Hood in serious condition.

“We didn’t close down the roadway, but westbound motorists are being detoured to Ivy Mountain Road, and the eastbound lanes have been reduced to one lane,” Miramontez said Wednesday morning.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle and no other cars were involved, according to police.
