Veteran, congressional candidate stops in Gatesville

GATESVILLE — Congressional candidate Marco Montoya, a Democrat from Leander seeking his party’s nomination in U.S. House District 25, met with half a dozen party activists over coffee here Wednesday.

Montoya is vying for the seat currently held by Republican Roger Williams.

House District 25 includes 13 counties, stretching from Austin to Fort Worth.

An Army veteran, Montoya said if elected, he would work to strengthen the economic bonds of Fort Hood with Central Texas and would seek to improve the educational opportunities for all Texans. A native of Guadalajara, Mexico, Montoya moved with his family to the United States when he was a child.

He became a naturalized U.S. citizen at the age of 16.
