Killeen-area residents may want to savor the sunny weather this weekend before a chance of rain rolls in later this week.

“It’s actually looking really nice for the next few days,” said Matt Bishop, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. “You will begin to see some rain chances as we head into Tuesday night and Wednesday. That’s when we’ll see a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain.”

Bishop said it won’t be a complete washout Wednesday, but there may be some storms popping up throughout the day.

“I think you’ll have a few storms around,” Bishop said. “But then each day after that, Thursday through probably the weekend, you’ll have a chance of thunderstorms each day in the afternoon.”

Bishop said the weather may be unpredictable as the week progresses.

“(It’s) kind of an unsettled weather pattern we’re getting into for the second half of next week,” Bishop said.

He said the temperatures should remain consistent throughout the week.

“Now through Tuesday looks dry with low temperatures in the 60s and highs in the 80s,” Bishop said.

“The temperatures don’t really change a whole lot; it’s just that you’ll have better chances of rain Wednesday through the end of the week.”
