A thunderstorm with hail hit the Killeen area today.

According to National Weather Service Meteorologist Joe Harris, heavy rainfall and ping pong to golf ball size hail can be expected around 4 p.m. in the northern and eastern parts of Killeen and Fort Hood. However, heavy rain and some hail was seen falling by 3 p.m.

Traffic on parts of U.S. Highway 190 in Killeen was nearly at a standstill due the heavy rain and hail, made worse by high winds.

An additional storm currently in Burnett County may also hit Killeen shortly after.

Once the rain is done, a cold front is expected to move through the area, bringing a 49 degree low for tonight.
