Killeen residents can expect more hot summer weather this week, as temperatures are predicted to reach as high as 97 on some days, according to reports from the National Weather Service.

The forecast for today is sunny skies with a high near 97. Heat index values could reach as high as 100, with winds speeds of around 10 miles per hour. Sunday night is expected to be mostly clear with a low around 74.

For the remainder of the week, Killeen residents can expect high temperatures in the mid- to upper 90s, with a slight chance of rain in the afternoons.

Meteorologists predict a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
