A weak front moving south over the Dallas-Fort Worth area today is unlikely to bring precipitation to Bell County Saturday, said Dennis Cavanaugh, meteorologist at the National Weather Service.

"If we get some storms along the south (of the front) it could push it further south," Cavanaugh said.

Friday's temperature is expected to reach 105 degrees, he said.

Since June 10, temperatures in Central Texas have been about 1 degree higher than normal. Temperatures officially broke into the triple digits on Tuesday.

Cavanaugh said temperatures are heavily influenced by drought.

About 1/2 of Bell County is currently in extreme drought conditions. Only one more drought classification exists, exceptional drought, he said.

"We have been in drought for several years," Cavanaugh said. "It would take an above average year just to bring us back to normal."
