Check the skies before you go out today because severe thunderstorms are possible, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

“We’ll be seeing a line of showers and severe thunderstorms ahead of a cold front (today),” said Bianca Villanueva, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

“The severe weather activity will begin (today) during the early afternoon,” Villanueva said. “In the morning, there will be a 20 percent chance of rain, and it will go up to about 50 percent after 12 p.m.”

She said rain chances will linger through Sunday morning.

High temperatures today are expected to be around 85 degrees before dropping down to 55 degrees this evening.

The cold front will cool temperatures off Sunday, with an expected high of 72 degrees, and a low of 50 degrees.

The high Monday will be 82 degrees, and the low will be 60 degrees as temperatures warm back up, Villanueva said.
