While November might have been warmer than average, Killeen area residents will experience more typical December weather, according to the National Weather Service.
“Basically, what the cold front is going to do is it’s going to knock us down to right where we should be (temperature-wise),” said Juan Hernandez, a meteorologist for the NWS. “We’ve been above normal for the past few weeks.“
Though the high temperature for Sunday will be around 75 degrees and Monday will get as warm as 79 degrees, that will change drastically when the cold front moves in, Hernandez said. Tuesday’s high temperature will be near 56 degrees, with wind gusts as high as 30 miles per hour. The low temperature will be around 36 degrees.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny, and see a high of 60 degrees and a low around 35. That weather will likely hold through Friday, as Thursday and Friday’s high temperature is near 62 degrees with a low of 37.
Killeen residents should prepare for a damp start to the week, as Sunday will have a 20 percent chance of showers, and Monday there will be a 40 percent chance of showers.
“We’ll see some showers and some isolated thunderstorms late at night, but we’re not looking at much in the way of coverage,” Hernandez said.
Tuesday morning, those rain chances drop down to 30 percent. Sunny weather is expected the rest of the week.
