Hot and humid weather conditions are going to continue throughout the early part of the week in the Killeen area, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 97 degrees. The heat index value will be as high as 101 degrees.

Monday and Tuesday will see temperatures drop to a high of 95 degrees. On Tuesday night, there’s a slight chance of thunderstorms and showers. The chance of storms goes from 20 percent Tuesday night to 50 percent Wednesday. Thursday, there will be a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms, and Friday will have a 30 percent chance of storms.

“I wouldn’t really worry about a severe weather threat, but there will be a good amount of rain,” NWS meteorologist Ted Ryan said.

As a result, temperatures will drop a bit, hovering around 91 degrees from Wednesday to Friday.

The rain is expected to subside by Saturday, with the forecast calling for lots of sunshine and a high of 95 degrees.
