BELTON - A Bell County grand jury on Wednesday indicted a 23-year-old Killeen woman who allegedly attempted to frame a man by setting her own apartment on fire.

Christen Tull, aka Christen Danielle Barnett, was indicted on a charge of arson. If convicted, she could face up to 20 years in prison, Bell County Assistant District Attorney Murff Bledsoe said.

The grand jury indicted Tull in connection with an Oct. 2 fire at Tull's home, a quad-plex in the 4400 block of Mattie Drive in Killeen. The fire originated from a couch on the apartment's back patio and caused extensive smoke damage to the home, an arrest affidavit states.

During an investigation, Tull initially named a man as the person who set the fire.

A neighbor told investigators Tull had spoken to her about the man. She said the man had been harassing her and her children earlier that night.

The neighbor told police he later saw Tull and an unidentified female standing next to the couch as it was on fire, the affidavit states.

Police later contacted the man Tull claimed was harassing her. He was able to provide evidence that he was shopping at a local Walmart when the fire occurred, the affidavit states.

Two days later, Tull admitted to setting the fire because she wanted the man arrested.

Tull remained in Bell County Jail Wednesday night with bond set at $75,000, jail records indicated.

The grand jury also returned indictments against the following:

James Russell Black, 33, of Temple, on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, less than 1 gram.
